good morning, ladies.
for some reason, i’ll get a song in my head and it will stay there for weeks on end (much to andy’s bemusement, and eventual annoyance). this week (and last) it was “nasty girl” by prince/vanity 6.
i must have been 14 or so when my older sister julie (thanks julie) took me to go see vanity 6, the time, and prince. he was winding up his 1999 tour and it was (not surprisingly) amazing. neon, smoke, levolor blinds, the purple jacket with the studs on it, the bed that lowered from the ceiling that he humped, the whole bit.
here’s one of the most hilarious songs from vanity 6’s record: if a girl answers, don’t hang up. prince is on the other line, doing his best trash talk. a must-listen-to-believe.
have a lovely friday, everyone.

spring 2007 (dog blog #70)
Published March 26, 2007 dog blog , illustration , spring Leave a Commenthere’s the latest from the dogblog. what makes you feel new again? do you feel good about spring, or are the allergies too much to bear? what is the sound of spring? right now there’s a really, really loud mockingbird in the backyard singing 100 different songs. i think that’s pretty close.

i went to this most glorious place again. it’s the ruth bancroft garden, and it’s in the middle of the suburbs in walnut creek, california. here are pictures from the first time i went. the succulents love the dry heat out there, though. more than a few of the plants suffered from last year’s frost. linda, don, and i paid a visit.

well, it was fun while it lasted. about 1/2 hour after this picture was taken the cops busted the party. goodbye, $15! fabulous to spend time, with susan, as always. someday, m’dear, we’ll do this out on the playa.
