dream 7: ubfest

hmmmmmmmm.

so, ladies, i just had this craaaazy dream that featured das and ninah. do you remember ‘woodstockhausen‘? that fest up in the santa cruz woods where folks played musics? in my dream, d & n had organized a sorta “ubfest” that was waaay up in the woods – in the dark – and along these windy paths between the trees. people had set up stations, and you could walk along and hear the various noises emitting from electronic trees, chirping insects, and other various and sundry (circuit bent) creations. it was marvelous and spooky. sorta like a noisy burning man in the woods.

one guy had a tank – a whole tank – that he rolled towards me to show me. he popped open a little box on the side and inside was a tiny (noisemaking) tank. the guy was bummed because it wasn’t working properly. there was a woman there who wanted to be completely hidden, because although she wanted to show her piece, it was so personal that she wanted it to be anonymous. another woman had an incredible light sculpture/mobile.

carol.jpgat one point in the dream there was a performance art piece that involved a troupe what was wearing white jumpsuits, tossing 100’s of hard-boiled eggs back and forth. one woman looked *exactly* like carol burnett. the evening ended up with carol (and troupe) doing a 70’s style singing finale.

when morning came (in the dream), flower and i emerged from the area to find that we were surrounded by homes – it kinda looked like suburbia. a few homes had been painted over with wacky colors, and the inhabitants were busy painting them beige again.

belief and technique for modern prose

This is amazing, and I wanted to share: it’s Jack Kerouac’s list of the attitudes necessary to writing. A writing teacher of mine gave this to me in college, and it’s a good time for this list to be revealed to me again. This, I imagine, would work well for anyone’s creative project. I’m reminded of Brian Eno’s Oblique Strategies deck (a set of cards I use almost daily) as well.

In other news: Roma is slowly starting to do better. I spent a few days at the hospital last week, will again this week. I woke up today feeling like i was sitting at a table with Roma and we were/are eating, laughing, and enjoying ourselves.

It’s gonna happen.

the portrait party!

allow myself to introduce… myself.

i did a portrait of rama and rama favored me with a portrait of.. me as part of this great blog he’s been working on called the portrait party. basically, you choose a friend, you both draw one another, and you send the results to rama. BING! so cool. here’s the color version of the portrait i did of rama. i think it’s a keeper.

the pixelator
