good monday ladies!
this year is the twenty-fifth anniversary of the band that is and was camper van beethoven, and they are celebrating in grand style:
1. they have a show coming up at the fillmore auditorium on saturday, june 28. this is going to be a great show. there is a fellow who (i think) is going to be wearing a (very furry) lassie costume based on the lassie poster i did for the band. oh – plus! a new t-shirt (and a sticker and a patch)? based on the cd artwork – most probably for sale at the show.
unfortunately, i won’t be at this show – we’ll be in alaska with andy’s parents. more on this later. i’ve never been, and i’m excited about it. i get to see a glacier before they all go away! i can see myself in a rocking chair talking to my niece’s kids: “yeah, it was big. and blue. and cold as heck. hand me my scuba mask, will ye son?”
2. they have a new cd coming out called popular songs of great enduring strength and beauty, featuring five re-recorded songs from the virgin era. you-know-who did the cd cover for this (which you already know).
3. the camper van website has been re-tooled with a bunch of artwork from yours truly. there’s still more content to come on this one.
4. and! and and! the 2008 campout is happening september 11,12, and 13 in pioneertown, california. i did a logo for the thing so far (see below) and will be creating a poster for the event once the bands all confirm. so far: Camper, Cracker, the Dangers, Built to Spill, Quasi (!), Brant Bjork and the Bros, Citay, McCabe and Mrs. Miller (Victor K. + Alison F.L.), Jonathan Segel, Greg Lisher.
september is going to be one of the most loopy months ever for me. burning man. new york city. will i have the stamina to drive down to the desert? it’s only $60 for a three-day pass!

whee! xm
